Apocalypse dawns in Supernatural Season 5 on AXN BEYOND
February 24, 2010
24 February 2010, Singapore – Supernatural fans can certainly rejoice as a sixth season to the amazing horror series has been confirmed! But if you have never caught the show, the latest and fifth season of Supernatural is your last chance to see the breathtaking and thrilling series as envisaged by visionary show creator and executive producer Eric Kripke (The Boogeyman), who is set to take the show to new dizzying heights with the Apocalypse in his FINAL season as the show runner!
The world as we know it is coming to an end. The ultimate fate of humans is not going to be sealed by a Maya-prophesied great flood, a meteorite crashing into our planet, or an alien invasion. Instead, mankind’s future will be decided in a final all-out war between the Devil who now walks free on Earth, and God, whose army of angels WANTS the Apocalypse to come. And only demon-hunting brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki, House of Wax) and Dean (Jensen Ackles, Smallville) Winchester, as well as their ally, outcast angel Castiel (Misha Collins, 24), have a chance of stopping the world from meeting its end, in the all-new season of global hit drama series Supernatural!
Premiering 8 March 2010 and airing Mondays 11pm first and exclusively on AXN BEYOND, the fifth and latest season of Supernatural is set to bring a climax of epic proportions to the roller-coaster series. The impending clash of Heaven and Hell in this season will be a fitting swansong for Kripke whose Supernatural is one of the most popular horror drama series around the world. And the end of the world in the show begins with the Winchester brothers having to face Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino, Lost) himself…
At the end of the previous season of Supernatural, Sam was tricked into killing demon Lilith, and in so doing, broke the last of 66 seals that imprisoned the Devil in Hell. Now free, Lucifer will take the fight to God for his banishment and bring on the Apocalypse.
Meanwhile, the celestial army of warrior-like angels is convinced that Armageddon will cleanse Earth to bring Paradise. The angels, except Castiel, wants Dean – revealed to be the human vessel for Archangel Michael – to take his special place in the imminent spectacular battle to slay Lucifer.
Knowing that the clash between the forces of Heaven and Hell is certain to bring death and destruction to mankind, Dean refuses. Instead, he returns to team up with Sam on an impossible mission: to kill Lucifer.
While it is Dean’s destiny to be possessed by Archangel Michael, Sam is revealed to be the destined human vessel for the Devil. Now Dean and Sam face the greatest test of their brotherhood as the forces of Heaven and Hell threaten to tear them apart, with each side seeking a nod from the respective brother for the possessions to take place. The Winchesters’ only ally is the almost powerless fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins, 24), who miraculously survives after being blown to bits for opposing the angels’ wish to have the Apocalypse take place.
Standing in the way of the Winchester brothers are also the series’ signature supernatural adversaries complete with demons, vampires, cursed artifacts and ghosts. These include a wraith that feeds on human brains; menacing spirits resembling iconic personalities such as ex-US president Abraham Lincoln and former Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi. Also lying in wait is a warlock who plays poker with human life years as stakes with the loser ageing rapidly, as well as the infinitely powerful half-human, half-demon Antichrist, believed to be the Devil’s weapon in its battle against God…
While it may all seem deadly serious, Supernatural Season 5 does actually continue in the same vein of humour that continues to set the show apart in the horror genre. Viewers can expect more than a few chuckles as the brothers contend with a Tooth Fairy out to extract every single tooth from everyone; Cupid in the form of an almost naked and very out-of-shape man who greets everyone with enormous bear hugs; and even socialite and heiress Paris Hilton who guest stars as a bloodthirsty pagan god in disguise as Paris Hilton herself!
As the last season that Eric Kripke helms Supernatural, viewers can be sure he will keep his promise to finish the arc that started it all with far more than a flourish. Brace for a war to end all wars as the armies of the Devil and God prepare to unleash their fury on Earth, while Sam, Dean and Castiel stand as humans’ only hope for salvation. Don’t miss the Apocalypse as Eric Kripke takes his final bow for Supernatural in Season 5, only on AXN BEYOND!
